They are committed to to making sure you have only the freshest ingredients and the highest quality food you could can get. Their influences include Regional American, Italian, classically prepared French Cuisine, and Low Country among others. They are able to combine all the savory flavors into the dishes that Joe's 2nd Street Bistro is known for. We take any allergies seriously and do everything to accompany our guests. Our culinary staff have a passion for their food and you can see it with every dish created.
Our servers here at Joe's 2nd Street Bistro have a passion to make sure that your experience is one to be remembered. Our servers feel as if you are their personal guest and strive to make your experience here as if you are a guest in their home. Whether it's asking for recommendations for a bottle of wine from our extensive wine list or describing the menu selections, you can see the passion they have in taking care of all your needs. Our servers are proud to be from Fernandina Beach, Fl and whether you are from here or only visiting our lovely, historic Island, please ask them for any information about Amelia Island or events that are going on.
While we have a service bar here, we also have taking great pride in searching out small batches of liquor for our Mixologist's to play with. They take great pride in making creative cocktails for your enjoyment. You can see the pride they take in each drink served, from our homemade sour mix to our house infused liquor which changes daily and weekly.
Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro History
Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro has had a long history here on Amelia Island. When the former owner decided to retire from the restaurant industry, Ricky and Mari decided the time was right to move home and build a team to share their vision and passion of serving guests great food and awesome service. They felt a connection with Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro through Ricky’s Father, Ray. When Joe’s opened he commissioned Ray, a local artist, to do the art work that still hangs in the restaurant. Once RIcky and Mari purchased Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro, they transformed the restaurant and menu to what it is today, specializing in only the highest quality ingredients they can find, and creating a cozy and cotemporary atmosphere like you might find in your own home. They both want you to feel that when you dine with us it is as if you are dining in their own home.
Executive Chef / Owner - Ricky Pigg
After graduation from Fernandina Beach High School, Ricky took a couple of years trying to figure out what he wanted to do as a career. While in college, after working in the industry, he found a passion for food and beverage. He took a few years off and went back to school at Johnson & Wales University. After graduation he slowly found his way to Nashville, TN, with stops in Charleston, SC, Atlanta, GA,, and Rhode Island working in many of the well known establishments and refining his craft. While in Nashville he met his beautiful wife Mari who shares his passion for the restaurant industry. While there he also spent time as a consultant assisting other restaurants in restaurant management and restructuring their menus ,as well as owning his first restaurant. He always wanted to move back home to Amelia Island and when his wife, Mari came to visit his family she also fell in love with the community and the beautiful island, and agreed that it was time for them to move home.
Operations / Owner -Mari Pigg
While working her way through college in Indiana, Mari found a love of working people and a passion to serve. Her family moved to Alabama and she worked with some of the top places, which led to her being on opening teams, specializing in training staff in beverage management. She found her way to Nashville, TN and worked in some of the hottest restaurants in Nashville. While in Nashville she found that she also enjoys wine, which has lead to her studying wines and different growing regions around the world. She has expanded on her studies by passing the Level 1 Sommelier and continues to seek out unique wines and liquors to offer to her guests at Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro. After meeting her future husband, Ricky, she traveled to Amelia Island and fell in love with the community and the beauty of the island and decided to move to the island for good.
Sous Chef - Kris Maynard
Kris has been at Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro for over 7 years working his way up to his current position as Sous Chef. Besides working at Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro, he has worked in many of the Island’s top restaurants fine tuning his craft. Staring off at an early age, Kris found out he had a talent for the industry and develop a passion creating dishes that make our guests’ experiences here at Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro memorable. Kris feels like he has regional influences based on the product he is preparing. Ricky and Kris play off each other to take an idea and turn it a truly unique culinary experience.
